I have been so far impressed with Squiggle and particularly the ease of deployment.

Nonetheless, the alerts don't seem to work well. All I'm getting when there's an incoming message is the icon flashing on the taskbar. There is no audio notification even though it is selected in the settings. Also - although I selected 'steal focus on new message' that seems to work only if the chat window is already open and doesn't work as a popup in one of the machines (all running Win 7).

Am I missing something?

Ya i have a few comments.... one thing u shouldnt keep any window the chat window or the main window in a minimized state. It wont restore.

close the windows once opened. If u are still not happy with the performance i will add a code for "on top" for the chat windows for u..

Yes - you're quite right. It does work if closed but not if things are minimized.  I almost never close anything though.

It would be much preferable if the window would restore and steal focus (or simply be on top after the restore) on incoming messages as well as making a noise.  Is that feasible?

Ehmm - I can't see an exe.. Do I need to compile it myself? If so, what do I need for that?

Oct 16, 2012 at 2:40 PM

There should be an exe... I have also added an option to send snap shots.

I agree there *should* be an exe... :-)  Under bin/x86 there's only a debug directory with some DLLs and text/config files.  I can't see an exe anywhere else either. Whereabouts should it be?

That's great!

I like the little toaster popup - it may be better if it were persistent but this is great! Thanks!

Oct 20, 2012 at 8:32 AM

Why ?.. Are you not getting the toaster popups now?

Oct 22, 2012 at 10:43 AM

Sure - the popups... ehmmm. pop up, which is a massive improvement (great job - thank you!).  They do, however, automatically fade away within a second or so, so you can easily miss them if you were not looking at the screen at that moment.  I think the reason I find the need for some more visual alerts for incoming messages is that not all the computers have speakers connected, so need to depend on purely visual alerts...

This version is great!

I think it's a massive improvement over the original -- I hope others like it too.

I'll let you know how we get on but so far I'm very impressed.

Thank you!

Hello Sandesh or Nikos,

I was wondering if you could repost the link to the amended version you have created? I would really like to have persistent pop-up's before I roll out Squiggle to all my networked machines.

Many Thanks,

Hi EH3films,

This is the latest version of squiggle from urfrndsandy with the 'upgrades'. It works great for our little LAN here.
