explaining squiggle

i just want to understand squiggle better, since it has no server how does one connect to it? and what is multicast? in our office we only installed the clients and are able to talk to each other my superior asks if it's secure. thanks for any reply.

Squiggle uses TCP multicast to share presence information (i.e. who is online,offline). You can read more about multicasting on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast

  • Squiggle chat is not encrypted.
  • Squiggle chat session is peer to peer, serialized with protocol buffers and sent on zeromq channel.
  • Squiggle doesn't append digital signature on chat or presence messages.
